Minutes Westport Village Commission
Call to order: 6:35 p.m.
Attendees: Gordon O’Neill (Chair); Trevor Moore (Vice-Chair); Shelley Lonergan (Commissioner); Edna O’Neill (Clerk-Sub)
Additions to the Agenda: Set date for AGM.
Adoption of Agenda: Shelley motioned to adopt; seconded by Trevor. Motion carried.
Previous minutes review: Minutes from June 11th, 2024 were reviewed and adopted. Motion to adopt from Shelley; Trevor seconded the motion.
- Monthly Financial Statements:
a. June 2024 financials: N/A will be reviewed at next meeting. - Old Business:
a. Community Hall doors and locks/repairs/replacement: Gordie has spoke to South West Glass and was told they would be down to work on them this week. If not, Gordie will be calling Pecks instead. Building inspector has stated that the new key pads are in fact up to code, Jeff Thompson will be completing the install in both the Community Hall and Rec Hall.
b. Electrical work Rec Hall & Community Hall (including ceiling fans in rec hall): The village had a building inspector down and he wrote a list of what would need to be brought up to code and maintenanced. Gordie spoke with Shawn Hudson and he said he will take care of the repairs.
c. Rec hall dehumidifier: Will be arriving friday, to be removed from agenda.
d. Life Rings on Wharves: Gordie has spoken to Cookes about the life rings, he will bring down some heaving rope.
e. Banking access for new clerk: Angela will be taking back over as Village Clerk in September therefore no need to deal with banking access. Cheyenne and Edna will share the role until then.To be removed from agenda.
f. Job opportunities: There have been no applications to the job postings.
g. Road Repairs: Gordie has spoken to Todd at Department of Highways and has since send Gordie a plan. They are to start ditch digging and filling in gravel on the roads. Todd stated that they were going to come sooner but they are behind so it looks like Department of Highways won’t be down until fall. Johnny Graham spoke to the MLA office on road repair matters. - New Business:
a. AGM: Date has been set for the 13th of August. Gordie spoke with Grant Thorton and they will have a meeting with the Village commission and Audit Committee the first week of August. A new commissioner is to be voted in on this date to take over for Trevor. Next meeting: August 13th, 2024 @6:30 p.m. Adjournment: 7:22 p.m.
