Handyman

The Village Commision is currently seeking the role of a Handyman. We are looking for a reliable Handyman to undertake upkeep and repair tasks at the interior or exterior of our Village’s premises. We’ll rely on you to keep our facilities in good working condition by doing various odd jobs.

Deft hands and technical knowledge are important parts of a handyman’s arsenal. You must be well-organized with strong general repair skills. A keen eye for detail and physical stamina are valued greatly in this job.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing maintenance and light repairs
  • Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls,etc.)
  • Undertake light installation or carpenting
  • Repair equipment or appliances
  • Assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs
  • Undertake duties as assigned
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs
  • Moving heavy furniture and equipment
  • Climbing ladders and going into crawlspaces as needed
  • Gathering tools and supplies, and bringing them to the worksite
  • Perform walk-through assessments and prepare cost estimates
  • Follow workplace health and safety rules
  • Clean windows, gutters, pavement, and other exterior surfaces

Candidate must have good attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with a variety of appliances and equipment. They’re polite, friendly, and professional, and they can stay focused on a task for several hours at a time.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as handyman
  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Able to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb ladders
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Basic math skills
  • Good communication ability
  • Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
  • Attention to detail
