Minutes Village of Westport Commission
Tuesday June 6, 2023
- Call to Order:6:37pm
- Additions to the Agenda:
a.911 calls not directing to Westport first responders/MFR’s-Dispatch of first responders/medical first responders from the Westport Fire department has not been happening on 911 calls even when specifically requested. Gordie had contacted the 911 center on multiple occasions and was advised that everything was updated and Westport was back on the dispatch list. A local resident, David Pugh, called and specifically requested a dispatch from Westport and was advised that it was not possible. Gordie reached out again and spoke with Greg Down who advised the paperwork filed was completed incorrectly. Gordie advised the paperwork has since been corrected and Westport is back on the dispatch list.

- Monthly Financial Statement
- April Financials-Gordie motioned to accept. Trevor 2nd. Motion carried.
- Old Business:
- Asset Retirement Obligations Assessment: Clerk advised assessment has been completed with no report of major concerns during inspection. Report has not been received. Clerk emailed Aim rep Matt Delorme for an update. Pending a response.
- Comm Hall doors and locks repairs/replacement: Clerk advised Sou’west has been emailed multiple times and voicemail left. No update on Community Hall doors. Bruce Longmire inspected Library door today, as it has not been working properly, and Gordie asked him about the doors. Bruce advised doors still have not come in. Bruce still hasn’t provided a key that opens the lock on the accessible Rec Hall doors. Commissioners have decided to contact Sou’west and cancel the Community Hall doors and contact Peck’s auto glass to order.
- Island Medical Services: Gordie advised he still hasn’t been able to have a full conversation with Jill Balser about the ambulance service for the islands but she has indicated there will be changes coming and she would be happy to talk when she has time.
- Veterans Signs:Clerk advised Digby Signs has been given a general design to begin a Banner template. They have also been provided with a picture of Raymond Robicheau and his veteran details. They have indicated they will be able to produce the banner before July 1st. There will be an initial $45 one time setup fee and with each production there will be a $25 alteration fee.
7. New Business:
- Commissioner position held by Gordie O’Neill-Clerk asked Gordie if he would be willing to continue as commissioner. Gordie agreed to continue for a period of 3 years. There were no other nominations. Gordie will continue as Commissioner.
- Audit Committee Meeting and training-Grant Thornton is waiting for ARO report before proceeding with audit so any budgeting necessary based on report can be added prior to audit. The audit may run a little later than normal but Grant Thornton advised it is not a problem. Clerk will look into online training access for Audit Committee and provide the link. Committee can complete training at their own pace prior to Audit meeting.
